Awesome new wave leaning towards indie. Very romantic, not saccharine. Twin Shadow is George Lewis, Jr. a Brooklynite who wrote the album with his childhood in mind. It was produced by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor and is deeply inspired by Morrissey, Echo & The Bunnymen. Sounds a bit like TV on the Radio sometimes too. This album is wonderful! Love it ALL, start w/4,5,8,10,11. No FCCs.
1.Downtempo. Foreboding, synth/organ gives it a priestly quality.
2.Midtempo. Sunshiny and hopeful, very romantic, Morrissey-esque.
3.Midtempo. Another Morrissey inspired, disco ballad with strings/flutes.
†4.Midtempo. Beautifully romantic, synth & bass led, with soft, feathery lyrics and a struggling guitar line in the background.
5.Upbeat. Synth has an amazing line. Lazy weekend getaway music.
†6.Midtempo. Soul inspired. Good bass groove. Constant synth line in verses.
7.Downtempo. Foreboding 80s music w/organ in background and deep, echo-y vocals. Feedback towards end.
†8.Midtempo. Slow, dancey track. Synth, tambourines, clapping build an amazing dance atmosphere. Very sexy.
9.Upbeat. Cool percussion and heavily textured background.
†10.Upbeat. Crazy synth/moog lines give the song a really quick pace. Beautiful.
†11.Midtempo. The best 80s synth lines crossed with chillwave, with a deeply distorted guitar solo. Awesomeness embodied.
