The Philly retro-band (most heavily influenced by the 3 Bs: The Band, Beatles, Beach Boys)'s latest, a back-to-basics approach here. Very simple songs, with less complex instrumentation.

BUT... Dr. Dog are such masters of melody that even so, it's full of hooks and interesting sounds and all. It's shaggy and the opposite of ground-breaking, but really solid indie-folk-pop stuff.

No FCCS.

3:18 Strummy folk-rock sing-a-long, repetitive.
3:21 ** Funky space bongos. Chorus a bit sloggy at first, but weird bridge at 1:30 in makes it really interesting all of a sudden, and it gets awesome. Foot-stomping callilope rock-out.
2:47 ***** Weavy buzzy guitars start it out; really insistent beat. Breakneck groove, nice.
3:40 ** Plunky raindrop opening, washed-out mumbling vocals. A bunch of nice hooks, one after another.
4:00 Quiet confessional into soft melodies. A bit saccharine, but lush and well put together. Chanty "woah woah woah"s.
4:32 * Casio beat-boxy to start. Repetitive hook, but hooky. Very hooky, but too simple, I feel like I've heard this before. Interesting texture at time.
4:26 *** Late '60s soul-rock groove, with honking guitars and busy-signal organ. Grows and grows, and goes to some cool places. Soulful "vampire" lyrics. Starts soaring.
3:40 Bongos, chanty. Afro/math type music (in the Vampire Weekend vein), but restrained.
5:03 * Stripped-down glammy rocker, with hooky stuttering chorus. Not much to it, but it makes it point. Fun and loud.
4:01 ** Bouncy ELO-type rocker, fast with a lot going on. Ton of hooks.
4:57 **** Even more glam, pure T-Rex. Fuzz and stomping. It's one thing, but it's fun and it works.
3:50 ** Plunky, slightly morose folk, with strong rhythm.
