Soundtrack for the film, released in 2009, which is the story of the Civil Rights Movement as expressed through the freedom songs of the era. Some incredible performances by Anthony Hamilton, The Blind Boys Of Alabama, Angie Stone, Joss Stone, Mary Mary, Wyclef Jean, Richie Havens, The Roots, Tv On The Radio, John Legend. No FCC’s.
*My Favorites*: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8.
1. *(3:31) Mid. Plodding beat, organ, guitar. Very soulful lead vocal w/ BBofA doing great backing vocals.
2. (2:37) Mid. Organ and drums up front. Cool bass. Funky gospel version.
3. *(3:49) Mid. Very soulful with organ, drums, guitar. Great suspenseful break, then starts up again.
4. (2:51) Mid. Upbeat with nice harmonizing, drums predominate, organ, guitar, bass.
5. *(5:51) Mid. Just acoustic guitar and bass. Wyclef is phenomenal. Solid.
6. *(3:59) Mid. Havens with his guitar. Beautiful and heavenly, as usual.
7. (3:18) Mid. Percussion start, then organ, then band, backing vocals. Gospel, bluesy. Great.
8. *(3:46) Mid. Just piano and voice. Gospel all the way.
9. (3:21) Mid. Everyone on the classic We Shall Over Come. Very soulful.
