The Horde and the Harem is a 5-person group playing happy-sounding folk- & light-rock. No instrument credits are given, but it sounds like rhythm guitar, lead guitar, piano, bass, and drums. Good ensemble playing & singing. Several very good voices, alone & together.
No FCC issues.
** Mid-tempo, upbeat, energetic. Terrific ensemble singing. Nice ornamental touches include piano cadenzas, trumpet calls, and a guitar solo. (5:05)
* Slightly faster, slightly twangier than 1. Solid drumming & guitar, good singing. (4:50)
Mid-slow. Sort of a ballad. Ebbs and flows somewhat aimlessly. (3:20)
Mid-fast march. Child’s point of view. (3:08)
* Slow, very mellow. Rich tenor vox. Mostly strummed acoustic guitar, but bits of decoration by harmonium, electric guitar, and two trumpets. (4:53)
** Mid-tempo title track. Lovely multi-part vocal harmony & trumpets. As pretty as a Christmas carol. A surprising electric guitar solo finishes it off. (4:46)
Fast. Driven by piano & drums mostly. Parts are downright silly sounding. (4:19)
* Mid-tempo. Nice choral singing. Two good guitars, piano, and trumpets. (4:22)
Mid-tempo. Tedious piano arpeggios. Pretentious, anthemic vocals. (5:03)
** Slow. Beautiful love song to a child. First half, mellow with acoustic guitar, piano, male lead, female harmony. Second half, full band joins, and it picks up power. (3:32)
