Despite the name of this album, it is, sadly, not a compilation of inspiring revolutionary anthems. (Oh well.) It is instead very pleasant, largely pop and/or light-rock. We get two very good vocalists: male (tenor) lead, female (soprano) harmony. Instruments include guitars, bass, drums, and a theremin, which adds fun, interesting sounds ranging from subtle synth-like accompaniment to Star-Trek goofiness. A listenable, enjoyable record, suitable for any show featuring light, indie rock and pop.
No FCC issues.
** Mid-tempo. Folk-ish, slightly bluesy song set atop old-style New Orleans sway (clarinet, tuba, cornet). Good singing. (3:39)
** Mid-tempo. Pretty, indie-pop song. Good lead & harmony. Slight country twang on guitar. (4:36)
* Fast. Light-rock with upbeat 60s jangle (a la Mamas & Papas). Therimin is retro-future. (4:03)
* Mid-fast. Happy pop again. Dreamy singing. A big dose of sci-fi therimin. (3:43)
Mid-tempo. Very mellow vox (M lead, F harmony). Set in a dreamy psychedelic haze. (3:54)
Mid-slow, sad. Sung in an airy, wispy voice. Limping waltz rhythm on acoustic guitar. (2:42)
Mid-slow. Pleasant male vox, but song doesn’t go anwhere. Again, a dreamy, hazy feel. (3:48)
* Birds chirp. Then mid-tempo with a jazzy swing. A Bossa Nova feel to the harmony vox. The muted trumpet is nice. (4:14)
** Mid-tempo. Pretty little pop love song. Good M/F harmony singing. Nice synth & strings. (3:19)
Mid-fast. Pronounced rim-tapping on drums. A lot of synth. Vocals are light and airy. (3:31)
Mixed bag. Mellow pop song, with a harder, rock-influenced instrumental break midway. (4:28)
* Mid-tempo. Good singing by both singers. Grows to be quite emotional. Much therimin. (4:40)
** Fast. Joyous & lively. A big dollop of synth pop with guitars & strings. It’s like dessert. (4:04)
