Japanese-born, now residing in Canada. He’s one of the world’s leading teacher/performer of the classic Japanese bamboo flute (the Shakuhachi). These tracks are very traditional in sound, the sort of thing you might meditate to. But quite beautiful. Solo flute, that’s it. Mostly slow and sedate, using silence and music equally.
1. Slow, plaintive and reflective.
*2. A single bell, then the flute comes in. Slow w/silent passages.
3. Slow and gentle. A spare composition that uses silence effectively.
*4. A warm, relaxed and relaxing lullaby.
*5. Gentle, spare and sweet. Another slow but lovely traditional song.
*6. High notes trill and sweep. Really pretty, relaxed and lovely.
7. A slow, dramatic lullaby w/a haunting quality.
8. Nicely composed mix of highs and lows w/a breathless quality.
*9. Bell and flute lead into a slow, introspective tune. Lyrical.
10. A 10-minute journey. Slow, nearly silent at times, but moving.
11. A mix of sound and silence in a slow, gentle ode.
