Whatever happened to Portishead anyway? Who cares cuz this CD seems to pick up where they left off at their peak and take it to the next level entirely. Dalek without the drama, toned down for narco bliss. Its all great sample and beat heavy stuff, the epitome of Warp records (bless their asses). Fans of triphop, experimental hip hop/electronica, and psychedelic noise trippiness alike take heed. Many tracks blend together but don’t end cold as individuals.
1) (1:47) sick as shit downtempo, nice and weird
2) (1:56) downtempo but more like epic slow heaviness with megaphone/distorto vocals, female vocs appear, cool noisey end
3) (3:50) an upbeat treated casio rhythms betrays the dark overall feel and looped darkness
4) (1:54) epic descending chord progression, a la “house of the rising sun” but put through layers of treatment
5) (2:43) super cool heavy downtempo, with phone samples, super cool
6) (2:52) layers sick drums over dark slowed piano
7) (2:28) trippy loopiness really takes this one, who needs drugs?
8) FCCS
9) (2:18) slowed fucked upness, lovely
10) (1:27) whoa a rhumba/latin beat swallowed up in here with LOTS of noise and messedupness, fades out long minimal and long, a great way to end the cd but not so much a recommened track unless you need that
