Hemlock boss Jake Dunning aka. Untold returns to his own label with a single that borrows more cues from techno than any of his previous work. Quite far away from his dubstep roots, this EP showcases both a hint of a melodic sensibility as well as that unmistakable Untold sound where heavy percussion and rough synthesizer edges blur together. Fans of the Berghain crowd will appreciate this just as much as the UK bass heads.
Try: Both, but 1 has a slight edge
FCC: Clean
1) 6:59 * Starts out deep, sparse and relentless. Soft synthesizers smoothen the rough edges as we climb to a twisted peak. Gets grittier, more industrial towards the end.
2) 7:46 * More complex. Sequencer bubbles in the back, distant keys and a heavy kick drum in the front. Goes all in on the gritty synths towards the end.
