Tenacious D/ Rize of the Fenix/ Columbia
Like with Jimmy Fallon, it can be difficult to respect the musical talent that someone can have because we have come to “know” that person as a comic, or an athlete, or even a doctor. The thing that is immediately appreciated is the strength of Jack Black’s voice and his authentic power guitar rock style. The production is really good and the lyrics are hilarious. The D also managed to maintain the comedic value in this CLEAN version of the album. If you get a chance to hear the unedited version you will probably find the lyrics even funnier.
My favorites are 1, 2, 5, 6, and 10. NO FCC
1- 3:51* Awesome intro song. starts mid tempo and hard. get’s faster at 1:19
2- 2:31* Uptempo rock tune that sounds like a mix of Blues Traveler and STP
3- 3:12 All talking comedy sketch.
4- 3:08 Latin influenced, faster paced, acoustic tune. Ends with a punk feel.
5- 4:47**Starts slow and gets rocking at :58. Big retro hair rock sound.
6- 2:59* Slower country rock. Acoustic guitar and bigger sounds towards the end
7- 1:27 All talking comedy sketch
8- 5:06 Softer song New world sound with flute. Medieval festival style.
9- 2:57 Mid tempo tough guy country-rock. Gives livelier towards the end.
10- 1:44** Fast tempo rockabilly. Rocking tune.
11- 1:08 Short with acoustic beginning that gets fast towards the end
12- 1:00 Uptempo Total cheesy ‘80s TV Theme music. Think Flashdance!
13- 5:17 Acoustic and slower tempo and feel. Really funny lyrics.
