King Tuff/ King Tuff/ SubPop
Great production quality from the indie-garage pop album released by SubPop. The better songs are the ones that rock out. I wasn’t particularly a fan of the slower tunes. He should remember to emphasize the “Tuff” in King Tuff because it’s definitely his forte. Great vocals that give a rockabilly feel at times and also can sound a little bit Brit Pop or Shoegaze. My favorite songs were 2, 5, and 7.
FCC on 1,2,6, 8 (“fucked” on 1, subtle “shit” on 2 and “shit said once on 6 and 8).
- 3:31 Upbeat. Mid tempo. Big “Oasis” style guitars and driving drums.
- 3:11* Catchy uptempo tune. something to dance to. Poppy. Nice chorus
- 3:09 Mid tempo pop tune with a twangy vocal.
- 3:27 Soft and sympy. Expecting Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell to pop up
- 2:19* Rocking pop punkish tune. Good up tempo energy. Tuff at his best.
- 4:25 Acoustic intro. Bluesy and mid tempo. Twangy vocal.
- 2:56**Kick ass rockabilly tune with a sick driving guitar.
- 2:40 Uptempo acoustic intro with cool hand claps and beat that arrive at 1:05
- 3:23 Slower tempo rock song with interesting shoegazy vocals
- 2:53 Gentle and soft retro pop tune. Bright soft vocals
- 4:45 Piano ballad with Dylan-esque twangy vocals. Sad
- 3:49* Upbeat and good energy. Good vocals. ‘80s feel with the piano.
