Not your typical sounding hip-hop cd with the unique sound of the classic 808 / Boom-Bap sound. This CD is about 180 degrees opposite from it. Continuing his style of experimental / dark hip-hop sounding production, El-P brings out a more diverse style that combines different styles of music genres in this collection (trap / dubstep / industrial / darkwave ). Quite a long way from the early Company Flow / Def Jux days. Overall, El-P is always experimenting in different sounds in his releases. Although the CD claims that it's all RADIO friendly, track 7 has some non-radio friendly sampling towards the beginning (0:03). Other than that, the entire CD is radio friendly. Recommended tracks: 2, 4, 5, & 11
1. Fast paced - hard-tempo dark electro breakbeat. Late 90's / early 2000's style techno influence
2. Trap / broken-beat, dub style production. El-P's lyrical delivery reminds me of the early Company Flow style of composition. Eerie & melodic background sound effects and samples. Recommended.
3. Melodic / trip-hop production. Various change-ups in tempo. Synthetic sounding beats.
4. Upbeat broken beat production. Trip-Hop style of drum patterns. Love the samples used in the track. Electro remixing of the traditional 808/ Boom-Bap hip-hop sounds. Recommend.
5. Very hard sounding, Boom-Bap beats. Trip-hop transitions. Various tempo change-ups in beats and lyrical flow. Recommend.
6. Trap sounding intro. Slurring / downtempo beats. Quick change-ups in lyrcis.
7. FCC warning at 0:03 (…"Fucking problem"). Synthetic / electronic / industrial beat.
8. Theatrical / static-noise / fork-scraping-metal sounding sampling. Dark wave influence.
9. Very slow and melodic.
10. Long pitched synthetic samples, very little beat-rhythms, dark & eerie sound.
11. Post-punk experimental intro. Melodic and harsh sounding samplings. Recommended.
12. Trip-Hop / Downtempo. Experimental noise sound.
