Maryam is an independent Egyptian artist who has been singing and acting since the age of seven. Maryam worked with and founded a number of independent bands, sang semsemeya songs and was one of the most important singers of Sheikh Imam songs, after which she founded BarakA band.
1. Roba3iyat Shagar El Tout: El Donia (1:23) A noisy, loud track with Maryam shouting over heavy synthesizers.
2. Hasr Masr (3:24) A simple song that has great Middle Eastern drums and chords.
**3. Watan El Akk (5:20) The melody is traditional Egyptian folk song but the words have changed. A great track!!
4. El Ghareeba (4:11) The song actually fits it’s title, which basically translates to “The Strange One”, because of its very strange/odd melody and vocals, yet it is a cute song.
5. Toul El Tareeq (5:04) Begins with somber piano that continues throughout. It is a sad song in which you can feel the emotion.
6. Roba3iyat Shagar El Tout: El Kedb (1:26) Heavy Middle Eastern sound on this tune but it is given a more modern twist.
**7. Wahdi (6:13) Her best track on this album; nice tune; addictive.
8. Sor3et El Ayyam (3:00) This song has a folksy feel to it along with some nice vocals.
9. W Leh Tenrebet? (4:57) Starts with slow piano & slow drums and continues with an emotional vocal performance.
10. Ana Mesh Baghanny (5:38) The song has some odd piano playing followed by some strong/harsh vocals.
11. Roba3iyat Shagar El Tout: El Omr (1:14) This last track is a more modern, fast paced song with updated Middle Eastern sounds and a hurried vocal.
My picks: 3, & 7
