VID: Nouinceput Label: Brouqade
VID is young Romanian talent Sorin Rastoaca, and this is the 2nd EP I've reviewed of his so far this summer. He's certainly an up-and-coming talent that is able to do some fun things with house - taking house to new places while still somehow remaining grounded to the roots. All three tracks on this EP are enjoyable, in very different ways. #1 is a classic urban groove, #2 is a club banger, and #3 is just plain goofy but incredibly likeable. Try them all.
1. 7:02 "Nouinceput" - Has that classic Chicago-style deep-house groove w/ vibrant urban vocal samples, a deep bassline and a thumpin' 4/4 beat. The simple synth loop is all you need to keep the groove goin' strong.
2. 7:41 "A76" - A slammin' house track that's a driving thumper featuring a spooky vocal/speech, a banging beat, and heavy bassline. Awesome club track.
3. 8:27 "Estevid" - This piece is a little out-there. It's as if VID himself just laid out some simple beats & effects, and started whistling over it. As I listen to it, I like it more & more. It's loose and wacky.
