Basti Grub: Primavera Label: Hoehenregler
This album is a warm tropical adventure that incorporates a lot of sounds and styles from all over the world. I hear so many African, South American, Mediterranean flamenco, and Carribean sounds in so many tracks, that I almost forget that it's dance music. The beats are secondary to the beauty of the music & percussions. Earthy, organic, passionate, sensual, exotic - I run out of adjectives. You absolutely must try "Holding On" (#1), "La Paz" (#3), the title track, "Primavera" (#6), and the sweetest one "Luna" (#9).
1. Tropical dub house. Birds chirp, jungle ambience, a deep groovy bassline and jazzy horn bursts
2. Earthy Latin folk sensibilities with great vox by Andre Zarzuela
3. As the title suggests, there's a peace and connection with nature here, with all sorts of organic, tropical sounds over an otherwise chilled-out house track
4. Melancholy melody and female vocals, with unpredictable noise bursts & crashes
5. Insistent tribal percussion in varied & organic layers, earthy male folk vocals
6. The signature hit on this album. I love it. It's so organic, dubby, cool, catchy, with a vocal melody that just grabs you.
7. Subway noise (sounds like BART) that swirls by, a light flamenco guitar melody, rolling bass, and all sorts of organic sounds worked in
8. Nervy & insistent tribal track with lots of Spanish conversational interplay. I think there are some bad words in Spanish here so please be careful - Safe Harbor ONLY!
9. Warm & tropical. Long intro leads into a slightly dance-y track that features a sensual female vocal and all sorts of wonderful lush effects. Love it!
