Future Classic
20 year old Australian beatmaker makes trendy electronic music that sounds like a mishmash of current artists in the scene. RIYL: Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, James Blake, Shlohmo.
1. Offkilter synths and wonky drums a la Hudson Mohawke: the resemblance is uncanny.
2. Soulful male vocals over a sick, plodding beat; reminds me of Baths. Real nice progression.
*3. Chopped/looped female vocals over a real nice chill-wave beat. Great tension and release. Dope track.
4: Beat's cool; off-kilter and unsettling, even if it doesn't really gel. However, this guy T.Shirt (what a name) rapping over this is whack. Skip this.
5: Poor man's Flying Lotus. Irritating vocals saying "to stay" incessantly with some chipmunk vocals thrown in. Skip this.
6: Distorted female vocals over a real nice nu disco beat. A softer version of Nero's "My Eyes". Pretty.
7: Hip-hoppy beat reminiscent of Prefuse 73. Chopped/screwed female vocals. Wonky Hudmo synth line. Decent noise.
*8: Plodding 1-2 beat with more screwy vocals. 70's synth line. This one got swag ya'll, play this.
*9: Some of the most bizarre and interesting dubstep I've heard in a while. Flume's womps just sound hilarious. Its chill tho. Play this, NOW.
10: Some nice melodic bass shit for ya'll. Off-kilter flylo drums with a singing baby takin' the melody. Real nice.
11: Soulful female vocals with the phat beats; lovin' the trap hats Flume sticks in there. Huge sounding.
12: Teebs-esque groove with more soulful female vocals. Really great drums here. Nice piano loop. Goes fucking crazy at the end.
13: Timestretched housy female vocals. Another nu-disco track, but this one doesn't really gel for me. Skip it.
14: Detuned guitar with (surprise!) more distorted vocals. Plodding 1-2 beat. Mer.
