Stripped down, psychedelic/experimental guitar/voice abstract trippy blues. Renowned guitarist Connors teams up with partner, Langille yet again for sparse, blurry-eyed, dream-like meanderings and cobwebbed meditations. There is not a single “chord progression” on here. Langille’s delivery feels almost like spoken-sung poetry. A simplistic approach executed in a way only this duo could. The album was created as a soundtrack piece to a book inspired by a series of MP Landis paintings by WFMU DJ and writer Kurt Gottschalk. For fans of Lydia Lunch, Carla Bozulich, and Connors, of course. All tracks sound similar and go well with each other; put on a few and you may find yourself in quite a state. No FCCs noted.
1. Harrowing feel, good preview of what’s to come. (2:26)
*2. Flickering, shimmering ripples of ringing tones. Twisted, drugged out exorcism. Guitar tone is harsh but at the same time smooth. Really something. (10:17)
3. A little more reigned in (intensity-wise). (1:31)
4. Connors swabs and stabs the guitar. (1:05)
*5. “Come on” urgent, striking, memorable, witch-like words from Langille. Like leading you down the path into a nightmare. (2:06)
6. Gliding vocals over smooth, hovering Connors wanderings. (2:54)
*7. Serious heady feedback and guitar textures. Langille going off about shoes. Absolutely erupts near the end. (2:08)
8. “I wish I didn’t dream.” Hell, I understand now.. Vulnerable vocals and wobbly, sustained guitar sounds. (2:45)
9. Short, more reserved, typical track. (1:26)
*10. Droney sort of dark motif. Spaced out. Slow. Your track of choice for Rx pills. (6:28)
11. “Kick out.” More demon summoning. (1:57)
12. Screeching wall of sound guitar, which then shifts to slasher/hum combo with Langille providing another chilling vocal take. (3:20)
*13. A climax of sorts. Shuddering. “cease to do evil.” (3:52)
14. Spaced out/tripped out delay hallucinations and the last word from Langille. (2:36)
