“The Ash & Clay” The Milk Carton Kids
Contemporary indie folk. The Milk Carton Kids are Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan. The band formed in 2011 in Eagle Rock, California (in the northeastern L.A. basin). “The Ash & Clay” is the duo’s third album. All of the songs feature Pattengale and Ryan harmonizing flawlessly together — their two voices often seeming to disappear into one — backed with some excellent finger-picking guitar. The songs are reminiscent of some of Simon & Garfunkel’s earlier, folkier things — or Peter, Paul & Mary (without Mary). Release date is March 26,2013.
