FOL CHEN: “The False Alarms” – Fun electronic elements join almost computerized female vocals. Great beats. Variety of moods, tempo.
Personal Faves: 7, 9, 3, 2, 4, 8 -- Sunshine April 2013
1) The False Alarms – Sounds like an electronic device is broken. Rapid confusion. (3:15)
2) I.O.U. – Shaking the Piggy Bank percussive touch. Bells. Beat picks up. (3:09)
3) A Tourist Town --– Sickly Chinese Restaurant vibes. (3:34)
4) Hemispheres – Almost sounds like the opening of a National Geographic special. Deliberate plodding beats. Heavy strings add unexpected element. (3:43)
5) The Fifth Season –Vocals echoing in a valley. Computerized electronic sounds like old Herbie Hancock. Then acoustic guitar?! (4:38)
6) Boys in the Woods – Chaos exudes. Cavernous monotone female vocals. Peculiar harmonies. (3:45)
FCC? 7) 200 Words – Rush Hour in the Forest. Then interesting beats with Madonna-esque rappish-style vocals melded with Petula Clark. Kind of creepy, yet cool at the same time. (6:18) (I did not hear the FCC, but CD cover eluded there may be one.)
8) You Took the Train – Wonderful percussion at start, with train-like sounds! Strange male vocals. Strings. Cool sound effects. Fast-paced.(4:03)
FCC: 9) Doubles – Cool beats at start. Female computerized rap?! Fun percussion. Almost a jump-rope rhyme. – (2:56) (CD cover says there is an FCC on this track, but I did not hear it after listening twice.)
10) This Place Is on TV – Shrill alarming noises. Footsteps? Rather creepy. Eerie feeling. (6:01)
