Blue Sausage Infant – A Cooling Board Bacchanal

Wildly inventive synth-driven experimentation with a keen ear for dynamics and dissonance. This DC-based solo act’s “final” release (under the BSI name, anyway) sounds a lot like another favorite solo synth-shaman The North Sea’s final release Grandeur & Weakness. Heavily krautrock-influenced at times, especially the long jam reeks of Shulze and Tangerine Dream in the best way, but there are plenty of sonic surprises throughout.
1. (4:15) Hushed fourth-dimensional frog incantations
2. (4:12) Laser beams, techno beats and spoken TV samples, screeching contact mic loops
3. *(7:18) Lush, twinkly outer-space ambient drone
4. (7:10) almost 8-bit sounding synth jaunt, like the Pokemon soundtrack remixed for a dance club
5. ****(22:02) A really dark spacetronic jam, haunting and absorbing beats thudding on and on with plenty of muddled kaleidoscopic synth effects, lots of warped and distorted noise creating heavy tension here and there, like an apocalyptic answer to Megabats or Mark Bradley. Heir apparent to the Kaiser of kosmische, Klaus Shulze.
