Motuo: Rotation EP
Label: We Are
Berlin based record label We Are (run by the highly-esteemed DJ/producer Agaric) again puts out a gem of an EP with Motuo's "Rotation". Three fun tracks, all very good, featuring lots of synths, ranging from electro to acid. I had a lot of fun with the acid-washed "Ultraman" (#2), and "Rotation (#3) is also cool too. Try them all!
1. "Purple Pulse" (5:38) - Warbling layers of synths and a thudding beat, and a tweaky little analog loop to keep the groove going
2. "Ultraman" (5:54) - A sci-fi inspired title provides this lovely acid-bathed track with gorgeous synths. Starts gently and steadily builds up in intensity with beats.
3. "Rotation" (5:33) - Strong electro influence here, with 80s-style synths and big snappy snare buildups. A lot of interesting changes in the track - very organic.
