COLL: Summer All Stars V1
Label: Caduceus
This is a fascinating compilation of various forms of techno & tech-house released by Caduceus. The distinctive feature of all these tracks is their interesting use of percussion - whether it's claps or knocking sounds or other exotic percussive effects. All tracks are strong, innovative tracks. However, the winners for me are #1 (LAD's "Turmoil") and #4 (Sierra Sam's "What Happened to the Music") and #5 (Sportelli's "Don't Push Me").
1. LAD - "Turmoil" - Techy acid, kinda cold with all sorts of creepy percussive layers. Good stuff, definitely has a distinctive mood to it.
2. LAD - "Turmoil (Myles Sergé Remix)" - Dark and hard-driving remix of #1. Solid techno banger.
3. Oliver Deutschmann - "The Becoming" - There's a little bit of everything on this - broken-beat tech-house with dark ambient swirls and loopy analog synths
4. Sierra Sam - "What Happened To The Music" - Funky and loopy dub-influenced house, with a neat little sample that asks the title question, "what happened to the music?"
5. Gerome Sportelli - "Don't Push Me" - Energetic and upbeat tech-house. Clapping sounds always make me happy, and the additional percussive layers keep this track fun.
6. Stefny Winter - "Tip Tap" - Huge electro-style bass drops, lots of exotic percussive layers. The middle part is a bit more simplified, and actually quite good.
