Dreamy girl pop, a la Cocteau Twins, Camera Obscura. Very classic 70’s pop feel in the vocals, layered vocals and dreamy swirling airy'ness about it all. Masterpieces of pop joy, use of melody and harmony. Kinda crazy how good they are at it. Catchy as Christmas carols, pretty as anything Karen Carpenter sang in the shower, lush as This Mortal Coil ever strived to be, trippy as Roxie Music was with Brian Ferry crooning and Eno at the helm. At the end of one song they mix in a take on Barry Mardone’s “Into the Night” which reveals just where this band is coming from (1980: “If I could fly, I'd pick you up, I'd take you into the night, And show you a love, Like you've never seen, ever seen”).
1) (3:58) mid/up paced with dreamy guitar and soaring vocs, melodic with a classic pop nod, pretty
2) (4:15) bigger beat, with little cheesy woodblock percussion, very hooky epic melodic chorus
3) (4:19) sways a little more, the woodblock still there, cute stuff
4) (4:03) wow, just perfect pretty pop masterpiece
5) (3:07) simple beat and feel, lush still with 12 stringed guitars
6) (4:06) Roxie Music somehow came to mind, just pretty and smarmy as can be (a ha! They reveal their true self by throwing in the Barry Mardones’ snippet)
7) (3:42) waltzing soaring schmaltzy
8) (4:31) mellow, very Roxie, pleasant
9) (5:20) darker feel than rest, slow to evolve with an His Name Is Alive feel
