Fuzzy garagey lo-fi pop songs from the leader of the Capstan Shafts (who have a light KZSU presence). Noisy, but much more noise pop than noise rock; there are a ton of good riffs and hooks to be found here. Fuzz everywhere. Stick the East Bay retro garage-punkers (Nobunny, Warm Soda, et al) in the subrural Midwest or Cough Cool on AM radio and I bet you get something like this. Virtually no internet presence; the kind of thing KZSU ought to be playing. No FCCs detected.
RIYL: Guided By Voices, Sebadoh, the Kinks, Bare Wires
1 (1:29) Loud drums, fuzzy noisy guitars, barely intelligible vox
2 (1:04) Groovy, rhythmic, sounds like it's about getting high
*3 (1:40) Constant drums, slacker/stony vox, guitars jut back and forth
**4 (1:29) Fuzzy and catchy, brief solos, way too short for its own good
5 (1:10) Bringing the Kinks up to mid-90s lo-fi standards
6 (0:49) Pounding, fun GBV style pop
*7 (1:24) Drums kick along with fuzzed out vox, distorted guitar, awesome
8 (1:17) Drummy again, vox yell along in the style of Neutral Milk Hotel
9 (1:12) Summer party blackout soundtrack
10 (1:22) Short, straightforward lo-fi pop song
*11 (1:58) Slightly jangly guitar, slurred vox, killer drums, fuzzy as hell
12 (0:40) Heavily distorted, awfully catchy for 40 seconds
