Subjected - 005.7 - Vault Remix Series 1.0 Label: Vault Series
Vault Series gives us four solid remixes of Subjected's track 005.7, all with distinctly different flavors of techno. Sure, they're all punishing and hard-hitting, but each remixer takes a different twist. They're all really great. My favorite version is Developer's remix (#3) which has an energetic drum-machine madness going on. But Shifted's reduction (#1) is also incredible - hard and mechanical techno that's just brutal on your ears and your brain - in a good way.
1. 005.7 (Shifted Reduction) (5:24) - Punishing. Deep hard beats, mechanical noises. Good solid take-no-prisoners techno.
2. 005.7 (Tuff City Kids Remix) (6:15) - A remix with a bit of urban bounce. Deep bassy beats and assorted percussive layers add to a distinct groovy-ness.
3. 005.7 (Developer Remix) (5:17) - LA-based Developer goes mad on the drum machines! This has a distinct 909 playfulness that Jeff Mills would love. Chunky manic energy that keeps the party going.
4. 005.7 (Mørbeck Remix) (6:09) - Gotta love that techno buzzing drone effect going in & out of this track. Techy, bouncy, nervous, and edgy all at once.
