Monoloc - Try EP Label: CLR
For some time now, Monoloc has been making some incredible dark and dirty industrial music that is mysterious and ominous with heavy and dank beats. But with each release, they also always supply us with pumped-up techno remixes as well. If you want stuff that's dark, hard, and mechanical, try #1 (Monoloc Edit) and #3 (the Original), while #2 (Skudge) is a fascinating Latin-y/Caribbean-flavored remix that I enjoyed a lot.
1. Monoloc Edit (6:40) - Hard-crushing techno remix. Thumping and banging. Dark ambience from the original version is maintained, with a soulful vocal snippet saying "Try".
2. Skudge Try Again Version (5:48) - Faster remix - bouncy and dance-y with a dubby Caribbean flavor and Afro-Latin percussion. Interesting remix that somehow "lightens" up the mood of the original.
3. Original Mix (6:50) - Slow-crawl hard-hitting broken-beats. Static-y textures, swirls, a few vocal snippets. Mysterious and cold.
