American indie rock/folk band, formed in 2005. Repave is their second album. Vocals sound familiar? That’s because they belong to Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver). Vernon's lyrics never make that much sense, but we love listening to his eclectic musical offerings all the same. Repave moves between painful memory, the sea, and quiet wilderness towns. Overall, a beautiful album worth listening to and certainly worth playing. -victoria

1. Tiderays (4:57) Starts off with a slow, electronic buzz. Melody doesn't really begin until a minute or so in, and even then, the entire song is cloaked in electronic buzz.

2. Acetate (4:54) Lots of different voices build until they’re shout-singing nonsense like “the apple’s on the orange’s ground.” Noisy (but you might like that).

3. **Comrade (4:35) FCC: Shit, fuck. Classic Justin vocals. Instrumentals sound like longing. Last 1:10 features some heavy auto tune (think: Woods, but heavier).

4. **Byegone (4:23) A song about setting sail, that sounds like setting sail. Some nice lyrics here. Constant harmony, dynamic melody.

5. *Alaskans (4:56) FCC: Shit. A gentle, slow ballad. Just Justin and a guitar (mostly). Last 1:07 borrows audio of Charles Bukowski reading the end of his poem "The Shower."

6. *Dancepack (4:19) Twangy congregation of guitar chords opens up the first 0:45 of the song. Justin conveys anger and betrayal in this song as he repeats the refrain "Take note, there's still a hole in your heart."

7. Keel (4:32) This is one of the more abstract pieces-- lyrics are scattered and seemingly random. A soft rattling in the soundscape makes you feel like you're following Volcano Choir into a dangerous forest and you don't know why...

8. Almanac (6:29) Electronic pulse throughout the entire song kind of starts to drive your brain crazy, sounds old school video-gamey. Some nice lyrics shine through in the latter half: “I’ll be dancing on your footsteps.”
