Dreamy, ethereal, ambient, electronica… Lots of ways to describe this San Francisco ensemble’s release. However you describe the sound, it all makes for good listening.
Top tracks 4, 8 & 11
Azam Ali-ish at times, maybe Cocteau Twins. Basically, just great relaxing sounds.
No detectable FCC’s
1) And When We Meet (3.31) (featuring Colleen Segal) Mild opener, with a Gaelic feel to the vocals.
2) Destiny’s Reins (6.45) (featuring Erica Mulkey) Mid tempo driving beat, most assessable track I suppose.
3) I Dream Ascending (5.28) (featuring Dru Allen) Chill out room joy.
4) Unfurling (7.00) (featuring Summer Bowman) Lots of emotion on display here, synths, guitars hard at work, Picks up the pace half way through.
5) Efflorescence (3.50) Quiet soundscape, like driving through your favorite scenery. Peaceful.
6) Blush (5.46) (featuring Artemis Robison) Nice dreamy textures.
7) Aurora (6.11) (featuring Rabbit Quinn) Catchy chorus, complimenting the upbeat sound – Fades out last 40 seconds.
8) Dodi Li (5.51) (featuring Noga Vilozny) Summers in Ibiza, chilling out to the sunrise. Atmospheric ecstasy. Hebrew vocals add to its warmth.
9) Man Up, Ladies (4.23) (featuring Danielle Colbeck) More of a background grinding assault than the previous tracks. Still manages to stay smooth.
10) Poppy (5.34) (Amelia Hogan) Carries on from the previous track, dreamy vocals until the end.
11) A Very Powerful Idea (8.00) (Raven Lakins) Too short at 8 minutes…mellow intro, spoken word in the background, which continues throughout. Heavier Guitars, synths & percussion take over after a couple of minutes. An assault that keeps you coming back for more…
