VINYL VINYL VINYL!!! LOOK FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL RECORD ON THE VINYL A-FILE!!!
Merkstave // Merkstave
Beautiful unique DOOOOOOOOM. This 2013 album is VERY highly regarded and unfortunately Merkstave broke up by the time this was released. Play it! Mention that this beautiful piece of vinyl was sent to us by the awesome record label PESANTA URFOLK
Supposedly 33RPM, but i say feel free to experiment.
Side A
This is absolutely stellar. Starts slow and doomy, but picks up to a ripping fuzzed out black metal assault. Vocals are growls / screeches with soft sweet echoing female singing underneath. Slows down to a slow doooooom drone with banshee howls.
I realize now that I accidentally listened to this at 45rpm…so imagine everything i just said but slowed down!!! Or play this at 45rpm and chose your own adventure…I actually just listened to it AGAIN at about 15rpm and it STILL slays. You really can't go wrong with this track!
B1 - Slow, resonantly deep riffs, low growls. Melancholy dirty melodies segue into some fuzzed out riffs with pinch harmonics bubbling up through the mist.
B2 - Beautiful well-rounded doom. Emotive growls, dynamic, distorted riffs, acoustic riffs, and the occasional double-bass. Ends with some thoughtful piano...
