It’s been more than 30 years since their inception, but as far as the style of these lo-fi indie rockers goes, nothing much has changed. Each track plays as an interesting idea, none of which is completely like any other in the album, so that the whole thing plays as a multifaceted sketchbook. Recommended: These are personal highlights, but any track is worth playing. 1, 2, 4, 9, 10, 20. RIYL Teenage Fanclub, Minutemen, The Church, Eliott Smith
**1. (1:18) Baseball song, has that late 80’s indie rock feel, would probably been an underground hit back in those times
**2. (1:29) Mid-slow, vocalist and acoustic guitar, slightly melancholy and very accessible, make sure to fade in when playing
*3. (2:43) Driving rhythm with monotonous fuzzy guitar riff (as in one chord repeated for 80% of the song) and ride cymbals, fade in when playing
*4. (1:22) Bluesy like the Black Keys, wah-wah pedal effects in background.
*5. (1:41) Mid-fast, poppy and fun, happy riffs
*6. (2:24) Mid-tempo, Elliot Smith-like vocals, feels strangely calming yet urgent
7. (2:22) Echo-laden vocals, calm fuzzy guitar in the background
8. (1:15) Mid-slow, outright melancholy acoustic guitar accompanied by vocals,
**9. (1:16) Mid-fast, propulsive drums and twangy guitar playing, sounds like the Stone Roses
**10. (2:55) Prog rock organ, tambourine, and relentless guitar riffs come in, sounds like angry despair
11. (1:42) Mid-fast, more focus on guitar rhythm than guitar notes
12. (1:12) Mid-slow, basically a guy saying “calling up Washington” over a simple drum beat and guitar playing
*13. (2:07) Mid-tempo, 2000’s garage rock revival feel
*14. (2:07) Guitar and vocalist sound hopeless, could probably fit to be played in a desolate ghost towns, ends 10 seconds early
*15. (3:03) Slow, sentimental guitar and drum playing with subtle strings in the back, culminates with emotional (maybe, but not really) guitar solo, think Jesus and Mary Chain
*16. (2:21) Mid-tempo, good mood, pleasant guitar and drums
*17. (2:09) Acoustic guitar and vocals to start, develops with chorus of quasi-passionate fuzzy guitar.
*18. (1:23) Mid-tempo, head-nodder with catchy and upbeat guitar.
*19. (1:17) Subtle acoustic guitar picking in the back, gong occasionally comes in, develops with sitar-like guitar, finishes with crowd roaring in happiness
**20. (2:16) This is as rock n’ roll as indie rock gets, reminiscent of The Who
