Gold Nights is the sophomore album of the Australian duo made up of Tara Green and Jimi Kritzler. It’s a dark, smooth blend of goth techno, dance and rock that’s dripping with reverb. Mid-range, understated vocals by Tara Green that blend nicely with the slow/mid-tempo instrumentation. Minimalist techno merged with Euro dance and shades of industrial. Self-described “tropical goth.” RIYL The Cure, Depeche Mode. All tracks are air-worthy, but esp. like 1, 2 and 8. FCC Clean.
.*(4:18) Gothy electronic, melodic guitar and synth strings, would fit in on The Cure’s Bloodflowers. Be warned - sound stops at 1:40ish – but it keeps going!
.*(3:39) Exuberant, dreamy, fantastical synth+vox, Euro club scene worthy. Good end – don’t fade.
.(4:36) More on rock side, guitars at forefront. Dark love/escape song – could be on one of The Crow soundtracks – good end, don’t fade.
.(3:07) Goth beginning w/breathing, almost industrial but lighter in the chorus
.(3:36) Slower, picks up to mid, minimal instr. – dark surfy reverb guitar/percussion dominate. Gothic beach bonfire!
.(3:04) Stranger, experimental electronic instr, less melodic, chanting vox, dissonant, percussive.
.(2:45) Changes tone from other tracks, closer to trance. Percussive steady beat w/underlying bass run and some electronic strings, minimalist vox.
.*(3:42) Industrial goth techno, minimal, slow, melodic chorus; heroic love song: “Lost in a battleground, I’ll come for you…my darling one.” End breaks down to min. synth and percussion.
