25 years ago Gipsy Kings created music history with tracks like “Volare”& “Bambaleo” and that addictive “palmas” or rapid clapping. They popularized “Rumba Flamenca” music, which is their signature music. After many years, they are back with a new album“Savor Flamenco,” that combines Latin American influences, esp from Brazil. They manage to recreate some of their early magic to an extent. You simply cannot miss the vocals of Nicholas Reyes, the lead vocalist, who has a certain quality that is hard to imitate or the excellent Tonnino Baliardo on the lead guitar.
The CD combines different musical influences from Spain, France, Middle East & of course there is that tribute to Django Rheihardt, who was a Romani just like the members of Gipsy Kings.
Try 1,4 7, 9
**1. Energetic singing in that trademark flair the group is famous for esp the guitar byTonnino Baliardo.
2. Vocals is bit on the mellower side, but the guitar rhythm are bright & infectious.
**3. Slow, pleasant number.
***4. Mon Ami! Hooked to this track with its happy, lovely, peppy sound - that certain je ne sais quois you find in the music of Gipsy Kings.
**5. Energetic singing & guitar with some fantastic palmas.
***6. Instrumental. Mellow & pleasant. Fantastic guitar.
**7. Samba, Samba is a peppy, danceable number that reminds you of enjoying life in a sun drenched Latin American nation. Or, maybe in Miami, Florida.
8. Energetic & passionate signing that Reyes is famous for.
***9. Instrumental. Wonderful track that is on the softer side. Everything about the track
is muted & mellow including the guitar and palmas.
**10. Sounds like a lullaby. Soothing.
11. A trademark Gipsy King track esp vocals. Love the guitar in this tracks.
