Introducing
The Craig Scott Quintet

No FCCs. This Canadian group of five musicians plays straight ahead cool jazz of the sort that would not be unknown to Stan Getz,Lionel Hampton, and the like. They play classic jazz that makes you want to snap your fingers and kick back to listen. Normally a drummer, Craig Scott takes on the vibraphone here. A very cohesive first album. I would be happy to listen to any track!
1 Lunar Blues 6:10 - Cool and upbeat, moderately fast and engaging
2 Groovin’ High 7:05 - A Charlie Parker tune done with elan
3 Chart of My Heart 3:21 - A fun, fast romp with the sax paving the way for a sensational vibe solo. All the instruments take a turn, trading places with aplomb
4 The Night We Called It a Day 5:11 - Piano leads on a slow quiet tune that brings to mind a cozy Sunday afternoon
5 Corner Table 5:40 - Sax heavy mid-tempo number. Very nice.
6 Head and Shoulders 5:34 - Mid-tempo. Drum keeps a syncopated rhythm in the background
7 Banana Funk 4:37 - Questioning, moving, and grooving. Call and response between instruments in places.
8 Auntie Mame 6:23 - Measured med-slow tempo. Lots of wandering sax.
9 Stolen Moments 7:26 - A swinging little number
10 Bossa Nova Do Marilla 6:21 - Very laid back samba.
11 Ginza Samba 5:23 - A dizzying roulade to round out the album. Fun.
