Psychedelic rock from rural Thailand. Featuring a double necked, electrified version of a phin—a traditional Thai stringed instrument—this multigenerational band performs intense, beautiful, ringing, polyrhythmic instrumentals. The entirety of this album was recorded live in a field outside the city of Lom Sak. Aquarius Records made this their record of the week, so you know it’s great. RIYL: Konono No 1, Goat, psychedelic cumbias. All these songs kick serious butt—play any. No words, no FCCs.
1. (11:42)—Starts slow, speeds up halfway in. Airy, bright, trippy phin meditations.
2. (4:38)—Mid-tempo, very danceable. If you listen closely, you can hear someone shout at the halfway mark.
3. (4:36)—Slow, funky—speeds up slowly. Swings in mood between happy and intense. You can hear people clap at the end.
4. (19:29)—Oh my god, starts fast and at full blast. Guitar approaches power metal territory for a moment. This doesn’t let up—it stays fast the whole time. It’s epic like prog rock, but way less cheesy.
