Genevieve Bellemare
Live And Die
Reviewed by BravoMarco
A Soulful R&B laced release from this French Canadian native, now based in LA. Infused with jazzy poppy aspects. Certainly some guts about her voice & has received some very good reviews. Will be interesting to see where she goes musically from this quick glimpse.
Similar to: Jessica Hernandez, Vaya Con Dias
Play Any: Liking 3
FCC’s on 4 – Rest are fine
1) Live And Die (3.47) Infectious beat rumbles along in the background. Poppy based track. Repetitive use of the title works nicely with the bass.
2) Hiding Space (3.11) “Portishead” sound. Slowish head nodder with a calming quality about it.
3) Riddle (3.21) Rockabilly feel with a Latin twist. Mid paced, unleashes the sultry side of her voice more than the other tracks.
4) The Way* (2.58) Hip hop back beat, with gentle singing over the top – Goes into more of a faster paced genre crossing track. It’s busy. Mild FCC’s “arse / bitch & moan”
