Pocos Años, Muchos Daños (Few Years, Much Damage) is a compilation of non-LP singles, EP sides and some rare nuggets by the now legendary band from the “Isla Del Encanto’s” Davila 666. All the classic garage psych elements that make them such favorites are here. The group was led by the charismatic AJ Davila who now spends much of his time on his new project, Terror Amor. Fuzzy guitars forever.
RIYL: Thee Oh Sees, Baby Nelson & The Philistines, Terror Amor, 13th floor elevators, and, Woven Bones.
FCC WARNING: 7, 9, 11
Recommended Tracks: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 (FCC), 9 (FCC), 12, 13, 14, and 16
1. (3:21) Primero Muerta – 60’s inspired guitars with a mellow beat. Dramatic vocals.
2. (2:30) **Sabes Que Quiero – Retro psych feast with hooky chorus. Cool track!
3. (3:37) *Pingorocha y La Diva Rockera – Fuzzy guitars all the way. Psychedelic pop 101.
4. (3:18) *Casi Las 3 – 60’s garage in slower motion. Vibrant colors and noises.
5. (2:11) **Me Va Muy Mal – Punk meets garage. Short but sweet. Yeah!
6. (4:36) Alverez – Almost glammy track full of sticky vocals and guitar riffs. Slow jam.
7. (2:46) **Telefono – FCC (lots of bad words in Spanish – cabron, hijo de puta, tetas, etc). Amazing cover of The Nerves’ Hanging on the Telephone; however it’s full of bad words in Spanish - The people’s conversation at the beginning of the song, a couple of words in the song itself, etc. Play at your discretion.
8. (2:57) Ohhh – Los Bravos energy here. Notable retro pop tune.
9. (3:02) *Dos o Tres – FCC (Spanish bad word: Cabrona). Another great 60’s inspired tune with sick guitars and a mellow beat.
10. (3:13) **Mariel – Garage meets country meets 70’s pop. Killer chorus.
11. (3:41) La Killer Bitch – FCC (bitch). Catchy upbeat garage track.
12. (3:43) Y Me Pregunto – 70’s glam filtered through 21st century garage standards. Davila 666 pop.
13. (5:09) *Borrando El Negro – Noteworthy cover of Rolling Stones’ She’s a Rainbow full of recognizable moments and a baby crying at the end of the song.
14. (2:06) **No Crees Que Ya Cansa – Great upbeat garage track. Yeah!
15. (5:34) Pa Que Vives – Another retro psych feast with intense vocals.
16. (3:47) *Sera, Sera – Mellow psychedelic ballad with sing-along moments and a nice guitar riff.
