The instruments may be bluegrass but this is not bluegrass or newgrass.
Challenging music, some crossover to pop sounds. Some great material here.
– (10:23) Familiarity* 3-act meditation, shifting tempos, brilliant playing & vocals.
– (5:27) Julep* Slow-to-mid, soft song of mortality, lovely.
– (3:30) Passepied (Debussy)* Excellent playing by all on this instrumental.
– (3:07) I Blew It Off* Swinging song about personal reverie, nice.
– (3:14) Magnet Sex & power, just OK.
– (4:19) My Oh My* Vocals by Chris Thile & the ensemble soar, amazing.
– (2:37) Boll Weevil (Traditional)* Fine rendition of a classic old-time song.
– (0:58) Prelude (Scriabin)* Short & pretty banjo instrumental.
– (4:17) Forgotten Just so-so.
– (4:16) Between 1st And A Intriguing track, flawless playing, classical in feel.
– (4:42) Little Lights* Soft, slow ballad that builds in intensity, nice.
