This is the second album from Lititz, PA band The Districts. It is out on Fat Possum, and it is awesome!! It reminds me of the good old days of The Strokes, the beauty is in the simplicity and I love a good simple rock record. I seriously love every single song and no two songs sound alike, so take some time and listen to this one, cus it is really special. RIYL: Strokes, Dinosaur Jr., Tame Impala, MGMT (the later years), …a bunch of others that I can't put my finger on.
Recommended Tracks: Really, play them all, I can't decide...
FCC CLEAN!!
1. (4:50) 4th And Roebling - I was hooked after this first song, up tempo foot tapper, very Strokes-y, great.
2. (3:51) Peaches - For some reason I thought of Dinasaur Jr, or Steven Malkmus when I heard this, I think it is the effortless lyrics and fuzzy guitar :)
3. (4:02) Chlorine - This is also great, huge sounds from the instruments, slightly more muffled and even mumbled lyrics, I dunno, I just love it.
4. (3:41) Hounds - I think of Tame Impala or more recent MGMT on this one, almost psych rock, but also a great melody, killer again.
5. (4:08) Sing The Song - Downtempo, soulful, simple, great.
6. (2:30) Suburban Smell - Guitar and vox only, and yet there is still some urgency. His voice is super unique.
7. (3:07) Bold - Huge drumming on this one, more of the raspy lyrics, urgent, awesome.
8. (3:57) Heavn Begs - This one is a little more poppy in the melody, another excellent song.
9. (8:41) Young Blood - This is like 3 songs in one, but man it is awesome, fastest 9 minutes of my day :)
10. (5:45) 6am - Acoustic guitar and distorted vocals, another awesome track, yeah you really can't go wrong on this record.
