Apocynthion - Sidereus Nuncius
Label: Pest Productions
Review: Dark Emperor
Dreamy Atmospheric Post-Black Metal / Blackgaze from Spain. More atmospheric than heavy, this release offers a very unique aural journey through the stars. Most songs dwell in the Post-Rock realm until they pick up and the harsh vocals/heavy riffs come out. Quite mellow for the most part, so don't expect everything to be super heavy.
FCC Clean
Play: 2, 7, 3, 4, 5
1. (1:55) - Creepy mood-setting intro using dialogue from Space Odyssey. (4 out of 5)
2. (10:17) - Wailing clean vocals and extremely melancholic. Song nicely progresses withe pummeling heavy sections. (5 out of 5)
3. (10:51) - Dramatic riffs, excellent drumming, with very moody vocals. (5 out of 5)
4. (7:24) - Dreamy Post-Rock atmospheric piece. (4.5 out of 5)
5. (9:46) - Brilliant atmosphere with excellent clean vocals. (4.5 out of 5)
6. (4:16) - Atmospheric passage with more chilling samples taken from the Bhagavad Gita/Robert Oppenheimer (3 out of 5)
7. (14:50) - Second best song of this release filled with hateful screams that nicely contrast the dreamy atmosphere (5 out of 5)
