Amaranthe - Massive Addictive
Label: Spinefarm Records
Review: Dark Emperor
Cheesy Pop-Metal.... but it is sooooo catchy that I had to put it up for the station to digest. The band is led by the beautiful and charismatic Elize Ryd and her vocals are pop-like enough to fit the band's catchy sound. Music is very basic and designed to be catchy, so you will find yourself humming to a few of these songs before you know it. 3 different vocalists on stage and the majority of the other elements are sampled when playing live.
FCC Clean
Play: 2, 5, 10, 12
1. (03:14) - Instantly catchy, but not quite the best. This will be pretty much the same style through the whole album. (3 out of 5)
2. (03:17) - First single of this album, it is quite engaging and has a killer chorus section. (4.5 out of 5)
3. (03:11) - This is the new emo/Metalcore/djen/aka Latest trendy thing in metal, since many new bands are using the Amaranthe approach to metal to get popular. (4 out of 5)
4. (03:29) - Some Djent, some Progressive/Modern Metal here, but the electronic elements remove its credibility in 'real metal' terms. (3 out of 5)
5. (03:17) - Bordering in Industrial Metal, this is actually very catchy... and it might even get you to start dancing.... (5 out of 5)
6. (03:30) - Power Ballad with Elize vocals shining. (4.5 out of 5)
7. (03:36) - Interesting tempo changes and some killer guitar solos. (4 out of 5)
8. (03:38) - Another power ballad, that is quite simple, but enjoyable. (4 out of 5)
9. (03:01) - Very similar to the formula behind the band's early albums: uber catchy chorus section, and so-so music. (4 out of 5).
10. (03:39) - One of the most enjoyable tracks in this release. (5 out of 5)
11. (03:28) - Headbanging piece, probably the heaviest song in this album. (4 out of 5)
12. (03:43) - Gothic Metal piece, a bit different from the catchy/cheesy songs the band is famous for. (5 out of 5).
