In Flames - Siren Charms
Label: Sony Music
Downward spiral from this once legendary Melodic Death Metal outfit that completely sold out. You might be wondering why this made it to the KZSU archive, and the reason is: The music is AWESOME. The band is completely hate for starting the whole Groove Metal thing after establishing Melo Death, I personally dislike their last 5 albums, but with this one the music is quite well crafted and enjoyable. Anders Frid?n has never learned how to sing and he continues to suck here, but musically this is a decent release with tons of awesome guitar leads.
FCC Clean
Play: 5, 11, 7, 10, 6
1. (04:06) - Catchy and heavy, for a moment I thought this was Dark Tranquility or even Gardenian. (4 out of 5)
2. (03:24) - Excellent Groovy riffs and tight drumming, if you can get past the Marilyn Manson-esque vocals (4 out of 5)
3. (04:15) - Linkin Park meets Soilwork? I have to say this is quite decent. (4 out of 5)
4. (03:37) - Solid melodic headbanging passages, another surprisingly good track. (3 out of 5)
5. (03:58) - Melancholic riffs with a superbly catchy chorus section, one of the best in this release. (5 out of 5)
6. (03:05) - Craft bass guitar line with some killer guitar leads. (4.5 out of 5)
7. (04:38) - Extra heavy with some Groove/Djent influences and more brilliant leads and haunting female vocals from Emilia Feldt. (5 out of 5)
8. (04:54) - Average modern Metal song, nothing much. (1 out of 5)
9. (05:23) - Excellent hooks reminded us of the good old days of the Gothenburg sound, if it wasn't for the clean vocals. (3.5 out of 5)
10. (03:50) - Entertaining percussions and some Arch Enemy-styled closing guitar leads. (4.5 out of 5)
11. (03:30) - Melodic Death Metal again???? a very strong closing argument. (5 out of 5)
