SF band that were quite popular in their day, progenitors of modern indie rock alongside contemporaries Pavement, Flaming Lips. Simple songs, jangly but tasteful, nice echo in places. Their best work veered into dreampop territory, IMHO (think Ride, Bethany Curve, MBV). Good songwriting (remember that?). Stalwart people in the SF music scene to this day. (note: I saw His Name Is Alive open for them at a packed Kennel Club in 1993, thats how popular they were).
