Two pros of the indie rock session musician circuit who have collaborated with the likes of Bon Iver and Farcade Ire decide to collaborate with each other and birth a wild, muscular, neo-classical, experimental record from their creative wombs. NO OVERDUBS. That’s right. They’re playing all of this live. Haunting, gorgeous sounds.
Favorites: 1, 6, 4, 3, 5. FCC None.
.(7:37) **** Spooky ambience then…beautiful pulsating violin/sax
.(3:24) Morose midtempo mood piece. Touching
.(6:02) *** Rapid violin and (at first) more subdued sax. Stetson gets his full skronk on 3/4 of the way in. Returns to violin land
.(2:57) *** Ancient scuffed folk music…achingly pretty
.(6:34) *** Shit gets intense. Your favorite indie collaborators spew forth some gooey, thudding, dark ambient style tunes right here. Only for those willing to climb down into the chasm below
.(6:31) **** Head nodding, entrancing. Stetson’s muscular playing of his pad cups (had to look up the term) are horses galloping.
.(8:13) Super minimal (like near silent) until about 1:00. Slower…saxophone comes in to add startling texture. Very violin led beautiful somber composition
.(1:38) Running water…plunges into the waterfall with ~30 seconds to go. Could be a cool moody set closer
