UK producer Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) has produced a ton of songs that you know, Kanye, Drake, etc. He also is responsible for TNGHT (which I love). Anyway, this is his new record. Combination of TNGHT sounding instrumentals and then some tracks with awesome guest appearances (my favorite has Antony of Antony and the Johnsons). Listen and enjoy!!
FCCs: Track 4 (fuck)
Recommended: 3, 6, 7, 12, 14
1. (1:58) Lantern - Ambiant interlude intro.
2. (3:04) Very First Breath (feat. Irfane) - Bring in that beat. I dare you not to bounce to this one, killer beat, repetitive vocals, cool first full track.
3. (2:42) Ryderz - Retro soul sample, sounds like you are playing a piece of vinyl, then that beat builds, so rad.
4. FCC FUCK (4:23) Warriors (feat. Ruckazoid & Devaeux) - Such a shame this isn't clean, it is one of my favorites, pop-rap anthem, infectious.
5. (3:04) Kettles - Completely instrumental, somewhere between an epic movie score and the soundtrack for a really creepy children’s movie.
6. (3:45) Scud Books - Back to the club, another sick beat, horns and handclaps. You can hear the TNGHT in this one big time. Also completely instrumental. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
7. (4:36) Indian Steps (feat. Antony) - Super pretty song, a bit more mellow and featuring Antony of Antony and the Johnsons. This one is amazing, another heartbreaking Antony track.
8. (2:35) Lil Djembe - Another instrumental track, very cool.
9. (4:14) Deepspace (feat. Miguel) - This is the single, certainly not my favorite, but I find Miguel to be super obnoxious.
10. (2:30) Shadows - Instrumental. This one is straight from a 90s video game, but with better production value of course.
11. (3:49) Resistance (feat. Jhené Aiko) - I think this one is pretty boring also (probably the next single).
12. (3:12) Portrait of Luci - Love this one too. Reminds me of TNGHT and Ratatat in that it is a full song, just without words, this one make me happy.
13. (4:17) System - A little too noisy and less direction for my taste, but the beats are undeniably good.
14. (3:15) Brand New World - THIS ONE RULES!!! I dare you to have a bad day while listening to this. I am adding this to my summer anthems playlist.
