Nickolas Mohanna
Phase Line
Reviewed by BravoMarco
Advent-garde artist from New York with an industrial experimental collection. This release is pure experimental electronica.
Like: Deison & Mingle, Sarah Davachi, (early) Cabaret Voltaire
Both good.
No FCC’s (All Instrumentals-inaudible spoken word)
1) Split X (17.02) Blips, blops & static are the introduction to this piece. Settles down to a more industrial caustic feel. Slowish paced with various thumps & grates to take you out of your comfort zone. Last 5 minutes builds up the hostility, which then hovers until an uneasy fade.
2) Interstate (16.42) Fuzzy pulsating assault to begin then an almost beat box sensation – A beehive working as one & banging their collective orange & black heads against the hive wall. Various harsh sounds take over halfway through, it’s busy yet somehow manages to stay connected. Last 5 minutes sees the bees getting very aggravated. High-pitched tones, then long 1 minute minimal fade.
