Pleasant acoustic blend with sounds, rhythms, etc. borrowed from other cultures by an Ann Arbor percussionist and musician friends; nicely performed and recorded tapestries of sound; no FCC's all instrumental
1-(8:05) Vessel of Gratitude- circular sounding melody; Indian and jazz touches; quarter tones; constant percussion; nice fiddle
**2-(6:38) Sifnos Dove- starts with lute solo figure; segues into dance rhythm with violin melody; piano and drum underpinning; nice light touch with the percussion- slows down a bit by middle and becomes a little ethereal with xylophone-like percussion; lovely ending
*3-(6:36) Imbroglio –starts with trill and Indian motif; segues into springy danceable drumbeat rhythm; accordion joins the mix; keeps moving along smartly and then tapers off
4-(4:14) You Talkin' to Me? – percussion solo with multiple timbres
*5-(7:25) One Chicken Too Many – starts with bass (lute?) solo, mysterious sounds glimmer under and over the bass vamp; rocking beat
*6-(5:57) Emil is in the House, Parts 1&2-- starts with light percussion; grows heavier; keeps going; adds drone; then mysterious tones; a bit gamelan-ish; nice textures
* 7-(5:42) Emil is in the House, Part 3 – starts with bass figure; light percussion comes in over it; nice treble string work and beat; pitter-patter raised to a high art
**8-(7:40) Waltz for Paulette Sears – starts with solemn bowed chords, segues to keyboard modulations; moody, contemplative, quiet, somewhat meandering waltz
