This is the millionth great release from Oakland extraordinaire Andrew Weathers in 2015, and the first with his new band. “Covers” of Waylon Jennings and Abner Jay respectively, these songs take Weathers' personal style of experimental, droning Americana and remake it as rock & roll. It sounds like an alt-country group doing emotive psych rock—maybe like a spaced-out Magnolia Electric Co. Beautiful, rousing stuff, and a fantastic teaser for whatever Andrew does next. FCC clean. -DJ Away
1. (5:02)—Slow, pretty, wistful. Warm, windswept post-rock.
2. (5:46)—Hazy, intense, mid-tempo rave-up, with cello, synth, impassioned screaming.
