Duo: Drums and 5 string bass play earth shattering crushing long
tracks of glacial doom. HEAVY downtuned washes of bass with
apocalyptic drums, slooowww, gutteral "demonic" vocals. Melodic tones
played on high bass strings often with left fingering hand (I saw them
live last week in Oakland headline with Wrekmiester Harmonies, for
which they provided bass and drums for - yes, fantastic show).
Beautiful gorgeous stuff, if dark in tone. Taking Swans heaviness to
the next level, taking the doom genre to great heights. Altogether
disturbing and hypnotic, bleak and joyful. All tracks are great, pick
any (worth every minute).
1) (22:29) slow bass starts but crushing slow doom appears forthright,
gutteral demonic slow voice, Swans on ludes, long epic melodic chord
laden crushing 2) (10:18) enters beautifully, powerful, enters a slow
mindful bass plod midway before the vocals become more forefront,
almost Gregorian monophonic 3) (22:55) begins with quiet bass and
nearly pleasant vocals, drums crash in after a few minutes along with
fingered melody, grows complex then epic, the cookie monster doom vocs
appear, midway it falls back to slowness, this one has it all 4)
(10:45) big doomy ploddy, cookie monster vocals throughout
