Julia Vorontsova- "Over"

With her first full-length record in over a decade, Julia Vorontsova embarks on a deep and sensual adventure in her native Russian-tongue, singing ballads in a style called ‘Bard’. She is US-based, but this album still captures the intense and destructive underground movement which developed in the Soviet Union. Give it a listen if you are trying to get serenaded and freaked out at the same time. FCC Clean (maybe not, but it’s all in Russian!)
Recommended: 4, 5, 9, 12, 13
1 - (3:30) St. Pete- dramatic guitar with electric guitar in the back, powerful lyrics
*2 - (2:18) Maslenitsa- much more upbeat with a hoping beat, cool electric guitar
3 - (5:13) Oubliette- seems like a traditional Russian folk ballad, trans: ‘”dark eyes”
**4 - (4:08) Gretchen- beautiful flute and guitar…CLASSIC Ruski folk
***5 - (7:50) Gypsy- beautiful guitar and male vocals combo, slow serenade WOW
*6 - (4:08) Alps- some American western-twang makes this a nice jam
7 - (4:15) Knight Violin- dramatic and forboding song
8 - (5:09) Nameless- pretty vocals with a dancing beat form an eerie experience
*9 - (3:32) Over- slow and light-hearted Italian sounding guitar
*10 - (4:27) Prayer- slow and dramatic song with a killer ending electric guitar solo
11 - (3:33) Pick- deep and forboding song…sounds very similar to the rest
**12 - (2:42) Prayer 2- vocal solo with a bit of guitar in the back…very pretty
**13 - (4:58) Air- pretty little xylophone tune
