Fahir Atakoglu is a Turkish pianist and composer, who often plays jazz but has a wide range of music under his belt. This is his performance at the famous Italian Umbria Jazz Festival in 2010. This is his 17th album, and his previous 3 US releases have made it to #1 on the JazzWeek World Music Charts. Check it out! FCC Clean
Recommended: 2, 4, 7***
1 - (8:34) Beyoglu – killer jam with piano and bass
**2 - (7:42) Sync-Op – feeling a Middle Eastern vibe on piano and beautiful bass line
3 - (8:53) Aheste - much more freeform and truckin’ feel
**4 - (6:42) Faces – really mellow and sweet…a favorite!
5 - (5:12) Gypsy in Me – a bit more energetic and violent…like rushhour
6 - (7:41) Connection – pretty and soothing piano, for a calm night out, sick bass
***7 - (7:02) Black Sea – upbeat with cool lyrics…best jam!
8 - (7:20) Ess – another freeform jazz groove with a lot of speed
9 - (6:16) Trapped – another wild jam with piano and bass flying all over
10 - (8:32) Saturday – the duo exchange punches in piano vs. bass attack
