Divanhana was formed in 2009 by group of young students from Sarajevo's Music Academy; wonderful musicianship; great arrangements; traditional Eastern dance rhythms made modern; singer Leila Catic has expressive, crystal clear Judy Collins type voice; genre of sevdalinka expresses longing and melancholy (like fado), but dance-rhythm arrangements keep songs lively
No FCC's; Favorite tracks: 2, 3, 6, 8, 10
1 -3:01 – great folk dance beat, nice clarinet, fiddle, accordion, vocals
*2- 4:33 – even faster than first track; sustained vocals over fast accordion modulations
*3-4:46 – slower; passionate vocals. punctuated with instrumentation; very Russian sounding melody
4-3:51 – slower but lightly realized vocal accompanied by lilting accordion; nice violin solo near end
5-5:15 –starts with treble accordion solo; traditional song from Bosnia and Herzegovina; slow, bolero-like beat; note-bending melody; piano accompaniment
*6-6:30 –mysterious beginning; quiet but insistent vocal + staccato accordion; intensity builds gradually; then gets quieter
7-4:40 – starts with slow piano chords and percussion with voice; violin comes in; slow, a little anthem-like
*8-3:13--uptempo – klezmer-style –trad. Bosnian; lovely mandolin/balalaika type sound
9-3:06- even faster – Slavonic/Croatian –vocals, playful instrumentation
*10-4:11—piano intro; melodic major/minor; trad. Bosnian; piano played like santur
